Chinese Eastern Railway

Japanese: 東清鉄道 - とうしんてつどう

A major trunk line built by Russia connecting the east-west and north-south of China's northeastern region. Today known as the China Changchun Railway. It consists of a main line connecting Manzhouli, Harbin, and Suifenhe, connecting the east-west to the Trans-Siberian Railway, and a north-south branch line connecting Harbin, Changchun, Fengtian, and Dalian. At the end of the 19th century, Russia acquired the rights to lay the line and operated it, but after the Russo-Japanese War, Japan operated the section south of Changchun through the South Manchuria Railway. In 1935, it was acquired by the state of Manchukuo. After World War II, it was jointly operated by China and the Soviet Union, and was returned to China in 1952.

ロシアが建設した中国，東北地区の東西・南北を結ぶ主要幹線。現在の中国長春鉄路。満洲里・ハルビン・綏芬河(ソイフェンホー)を結びシベリア鉄道に東西で連絡する本線と，ハルビン・長春・奉天・大連を結ぶ南北の支線からなる。19世紀末ロシアが敷設権を獲得して経営したが，日露戦争後長春以南を日本は満鉄により経営。1935年満州国が買収。第２次大戦後中ソ共同で経営し，1952年中国に返還された。
