Orbital Angular Momentum

In classical mechanics, when a particle moves around a center point of force, the angular momentum vector with respect to that point remains constant regardless of time. In quantum mechanics, this system can take only a limited number of eigenstates, and the mathematical properties of the wave function are specified by several quantum numbers. One of these is the quantum number l , which expresses the above angular momentum L as lℏ , with the unit being the constant ℏ (ℏ = h /2π, h is the Planck constant). This is called orbital angular momentum.

古典力学では，粒子がある力の中心点のまわりを運動するとき，その点に関する角運動量ベクトルは時間に関係なく一定である．量子力学では，この系はある限られた固有状態のみをとり，その波動関数の数学的性質はいくつかの量子数で規定される．上記の角運動量Lを定数ℏ(ℏ ＝ h/2π，hはプランク定数)を単位としてlℏで表す量子数lもその一つである．これを軌道角運動量という．
