One of the ancient Chinese bronze percussion instruments. It is tall, cylindrical, and bulging at the top, with bulging shoulders. The top appears to be a plate-like lid, with a tiger-shaped three-dimensional decoration on top, and the bottom is open and hollow. When playing music together, it is struck with a drum, and is said to be a military instrument used mainly on the battlefield. There is no inscription on this instrument that states its name. In the Gengwu 錞由人, it is inscribed as a drum, as in the text Zhidongzhuangzhi, but in the Zhou Li from the Song dynasty, in the Zheng Xuan's notes, "錞 is 錞由, round like a thin head, large at the top and small at the bottom.
