Hokusei [town] - Hokusei

Japanese: 北勢[町] - ほくせい

An old town in Inabe County, located in northern Mie Prefecture, between the southwestern Yoro Mountains and the northeastern Suzuka Mountains. Most of the area is mountainous and hilly, and rice and tea are cultivated. There is a metalworking factory and the area is becoming increasingly residential. Ageki, in the center, is the terminus of the Sangi Railway Hokusei Line and a distribution center for goods in the northern part of the county. In December 2003, it merged with Inabe Town, Taian Town, and Fujiwara Town in Inabe County to form Inabe City. 88.78 ^km2 . Population 14,022 (2003).

三重県北部，養老山地南西部と鈴鹿山脈北東部にはさまれた員弁(いなべ)郡の旧町。大部分は山地と丘陵地で，米・茶の栽培を行う。金属工場が立地し，住宅地化が進む。中心の阿下喜(あげき)は三岐鉄道北勢線の終点で，郡北部の物資の集散地。2003年12月員弁郡員弁町，大安町，藤原町と合併し，いなべ市となる。88.78km²。１万4022人（2003）。
