Isomorphism

Isomorphism

It is also called isomorphism, homomorphism, isomorphism, or homomorphism. In the narrow sense, isomorphism refers to crystals that can form mixed crystals (isomorphic mixed crystals) between crystals that belong to the same crystal structure type over a wide range of composition. This concept was established by the German E. E. Mitscherlich. Examples of this include the relationship between gold and silver, or potassium chloride and rubidium chloride. In the broad sense, isomorphism is simply when two substances belong to the same crystal structure type, but this is also called isotypy. An example is the relationship between sodium chloride and magnesium oxide, which both have sodium chloride-type crystal structures but do not form mixed crystals.
