Among the facsimiles that use the telephone network, the service provided by NTT is called telephone fax. There are three types of facsimiles that use subscriber telephone lines: G1 (6-minute machine), G2 (3-minute machine), and G3 (1-minute machine). The Telephone Fax 2000 used in the G2 model employs flat transmission scanning with an image sensor that uses a charge-coupled device and reception scanning with a thermal head, and transmits data using the amplitude-phase modulation residual sideband method. The Telephone Fax 3000 and 3300 used in the G3 model also use a similar image sensor, the former using thermal recording and the latter using electrostatic recording.

電話網利用ファクシミリのうち，NTTで実施しているサービスを電話ファックスという。加入電話回線を用いるファクシミリには，G1形(6分機)，G2形(3分機)，G3形(1分機)の3種類がある。G2形に用いられている電話ファックス2000は電荷結合デバイスを使用したイメージセンサーによる平面送信走査，感熱ヘッドによる受信走査を採用し，振幅位相変調残留側波帯方式により電送する。G3形に用いられている電話ファックス3000および3300も同様のイメージセンサーを用いており，前者は感熱記録，後者は静電記録方式を採用している。
