A book in the New Testament belonging to the so-called prison epistles of Paul, it attempts to refute the Gnostic heresy in Colossae and show the correct form of the gospel. There are various theories about the place of writing, such as Caesarea or Ephesus, but the prevailing theory is that it was written in Rome, and it is thought to have been written around 62. Some people doubt that it was written by Paul. It is composed of two parts, the kerygma (proclamation of the gospel) and the didache (teaching), with the first part strongly asserting the infallibility of Christ and the second part addressing the issue of love for Christians.

いわゆるパウロの獄中書簡に属する新約聖書中の一書で，コロサイにおけるグノーシス的な異端を駁論し福音の正しい姿を示そうとしたもの。執筆の場所としてはカエサレア説，エフェソス説などもあるが，ローマ説が有力で，62年頃成立したと思われる。パウロの作であることを疑問視する人もいる。構成はケリュグマ (福音の宣言) とディダケー (教説) の2部より成り，1部ではキリストの絶対性が強く主張され，2部ではキリスト信徒における愛の問題が述べられている。
