Castration complex

Japanese: 去勢コンプレクス - きょせいコンプレクス（英語表記）castration complex

A term coined by S. Freud. A psychological reaction to parents threatening or restricting their children's sexual activity, a complex centered on the fantasy of castration. Boys experience "castration anxiety" (fear of being castrated) during the phallic stage (ages 3-7) when infantile masturbation becomes common, and girls at this time fantasize that their mothers have taken away the penis they were born with. At the heart of castration anxiety carried over into adulthood is still the fantasy accompanied by the irrational fear of being castrated.

S.フロイトの用語。親が幼児の性行動を威嚇したり制限したりすることに対する心理的反応で，去勢の幻想を中心とするコンプレクス。男子は，幼児自慰がさかんとなる男根期(3～7歳)に〈去勢不安castration anxiety〉(去勢されることに対する不安)を経験し，女子はそのころ，本来持っていたペニスを母親に奪いとられたと空想する。成人にもちこされた去勢不安の中心には，依然として去勢されることに対する非合理な恐れを伴う空想がある。
