During the Edo period, this was a tax levied on the Tenryo to cover rice supplies to wholesalers and head inns along the five main roads, and for post town needs. Along with the Rokushaku rice supply and the Okuramae supply, this was one of the three Takagakarimono taxes.

江戸時代、五街道の問屋・本陣の給米、宿場入用にあてるため、天領に賦課された税。六尺給米、御蔵前(おくらまえ)入用とともに高掛物(たかがかりもの)三役という。
