Ozu Basin - Ozubonchi

Japanese:
Ozu Basin - Ozubonchi

A basin developed in the middle reaches of the Hiji River in western Ehime Prefecture. Its area is approximately 10 square kilometers. The basin floor is low, at 10 to 15 meters above sea level, and is located 15 to 20 kilometers from the river mouth. The Hiji River narrows downstream and becomes a leading river, causing flood damage every time there is heavy rain. It has been a plague since the feudal era, but the damage has decreased with the completion of the Kanogawa Dam and bank protection work. Radiation fog occurs from autumn to winter, resulting in little sunshine. In addition to rice paddies, mulberry and tea cultivation is thriving.
