Japanese: 田原[町] - たはら

An old town in the center of the Atsumi Peninsula, Atsumi District, Aichi Prefecture. Tahara, in the center, developed as a castle town for the Miyake clan and a port town, and is the terminus of the Toyohashi Railway. Vegetable cultivation, greenhouse horticulture, and livestock farming are thriving using the Toyokawa irrigation system, and automobile factories have moved in due to the development of industrial land along the Mikawa Bay coast. There is the Yoshigo Shell Mound (historic site) and the Kazan Bunko Library, named after Watanabe Kazan. In August 2003, it merged with Akabane Town, Atsumi District, to form Tahara City. 82.85 ^km2 . Population 36,744 (2003).

愛知県渥美郡，渥美半島中部の旧町。中心の田原は三宅氏の城下町，港町として発達，豊橋鉄道の終点。豊川用水による野菜栽培，施設園芸，畜産が盛んで，三河湾岸の工業用地の造成により，自動車工場が進出している。吉胡(よしご)貝塚（史跡），渡辺崋山にちなむ崋山文庫がある。2003年８月渥美郡赤羽根町と合併し，田原市となる。82.85km²。３万6744人（2003）。
