[Born] 1768 [Died] 1833 Salvadoran priest and political leader. In 1811, he led a rebellion against Spanish colonial rule and resisted incorporation into the Mexican Empire (Emperor Iturbide). In 1823, he served as president of the National Assembly that drafted the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Central America.
