In 1367 (Shohei 22, Joji 6), Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiakira petitioned the Imperial Court to make Daitoku-ji and Tokuzen-ji temples Tsuchien temples, with a disciple of Tetsuo Yoshiyuki as the chief priest. He was also invited to Tenryu-ji temple, but refused, and passed away on May 15, 1369 (Shohei 24, Oan 2). He was posthumously named Daiso Shogen Zenji, and later, at the request of Takuan, Emperor Gomizunoo posthumously named him Tenno Taigen Kokushi. He wrote the two-volume "Tetsuo Osho Goroku."
