New Tsukuba Collection - New Tsukuba Collection

A collection of linked verse from the late Muromachi period. 20 volumes. Completed in 1495 (Meiō 4). Instigated by Ōuchi Masahiro of Yamaguchi, Suō, it was co-edited by Ichijō Fuyura, Ōnishi Sanetaka, Sogi, and Kanezumi. It follows the divisional structure of imperial anthologies of waka poetry, just like the preceding Ukuhashu (completed in 1356), but it does not have a haiku section. Tsukeku (attached verses) (which accompany previous verses) are arranged according to their division, and hokku (first verses) are compiled separately in the final two volumes. It contains 2,052 poems written over a period of about 60 years from 1429 onwards. The main authors are Shinkei, Sozei, Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado, and Sogi. There are also many samurai authors. This anthology is highly regarded as one from the period when renga was at its most refined.

室町後期の連歌(れんが)選集。20巻。1495年（明応4）成立。周防(すおう)山口の大内政弘(まさひろ)の発起により、一条冬良(ふゆら)、三条西実隆(さねたか)、宗祇(そうぎ)、兼載らの共同編集。勅撰和歌集の部立(ぶだて)を踏襲しているのは先行の『菟玖波集』（1356成立）と同様だが、俳諧(はいかい)の部はない。付句(つけく)（前句を伴う）をその部立に従って配列し、発句(ほっく)は別にまとめ最終2巻をあてる。1429年以降約60年の間の作品を2052句収める。おもな作者は、心敬(しんけい)、宗砌(そうぜい)、後土御門(ごつちみかど)天皇、宗祇など。武士の作者も多い。連歌がもっとも洗練された時期の選集として評価される。
