A Turk-Mongol Islamic dynasty in Central Asia and Iran. 1370-1507. After the death of its founder Timur in 1405, it reached its zenith under the rule of his sons Shah Rukh and Abu Said. Its capital was Samarkand. After Abu Said's death, the kingdom split into Samarkand and Herat, and was destroyed in the early 16th century. His grandson Babur established the Mughal Empire from Afghanistan.

中央アジア，イランのトルコ・モンゴル系イスラム王朝。1370年―1507年。創建者ティムールの没した1405年以降，その子シャー・ルフ，アブー・サイードらによって統治され最盛期を迎えた。都はサマルカンド。アブー・サイードの死後サマルカンドとヘラートに分裂して16世紀初頭に滅んだ。その孫バーブルはアフガニスタンに拠って，ムガル帝国を開いた。
