A fossil genus belonging to the family Deinotheriidae of the order Proboscidea. The snout of the lower jaw is strongly curved downward, and the lower tusks are also curved backward. It is found in Europe, Africa, and India, and is found from the Neogene (Miocene) to the Quaternary (Pleistocene) strata.
