A town in the province of Namur in southern Belgium. It is located at the foot of limestone cliffs on the right bank of the Meuse River, about 23 km south of Namur and 24 km from the French border. From the 11th century until the French Revolution, it belonged to the Archdiocese of Liège. In addition to woolen textiles, it is famous for brass kitchen utensils and decorative items called "dinandries" that have been produced since the 15th century, and biscuits called "cook de dinant". Although many buildings were destroyed in the two world wars, it still has many historical buildings, including an 11th century fortress (now a museum), and beautiful limestone caves, making it a tourist destination.
