An Iranian Islamic scholar. Little is known about his life. He was mainly active in Iraq, and his academic fields were broad, including linguistics, literature, botany, astronomy, geography, and mathematics. He also wrote many books, including the Botanical Dictionary, Indian Arithmetic Studies, and the Long History. Only the Long History remains in its entirety, but it is important as a history of the Islamic world written from an Iranian perspective, and contains valuable content not found in other historical texts.
