Jeong Hyo-soo - Post office

A politician in the late Qing Dynasty of China's Manchukuo. His courtesy name was Su Hu. He was from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, and was a Jinshi (official scholar) in the late Qing Dynasty. He came to Japan in 1891 (Meiji 24) and became the Consul General of Kobe and Osaka. From 1903, he led the new Hubei army as the Border Commander of Guangxi for two years. In 1907, he left his post and founded the Preliminary Constitutional Association in Shanghai with Zhang Jian and others, and promoted the constitutional movement. He then joined Sheng Xuanhuai's army, proposing a policy to nationalize the railways, and was appointed as the governor of Hunan to try to implement it, but his efforts were thwarted by the Xinhai Revolution. He later served as director of the Commercial Press in Shanghai, and from 1924 onwards, he was involved in educating Emperor Xuantong in Tianjin. He participated in the establishment of "Manchukuo" and became its Prime Minister, and after the establishment of the imperial system, he became Prime Minister as well. He resigned from his post in 1935. He was also a leading poet and calligrapher in the Republic of China.

中国、清(しん)末、「満州国」の政治家。字(あざな)は蘇戡(そかん)。福建省福州の人。清末進士。1891年(明治24)来日して神戸大阪総領事に就任。1903年から2年間、広西辺務督辦(とくべん)として湖北新軍を統率。1907年官を辞し、張謇(ちょうけん)らと上海(シャンハイ)に予備立憲公会を創設し、立憲運動を進めた。その後、盛宣懐(せいせんかい)の幕下に入って鉄道国有策を建議し、湖南布政使に任ぜられてその実施を図ったが、辛亥(しんがい)革命により挫折(ざせつ)した。以後上海で商務印書館董事(とうじ)の職にあり、1924年以後は天津(てんしん)で宣統帝の教育に従事した。「満州国」設立に参加して国務総理となり、帝制施行後、国務総理大臣に就任。1935年官を辞した。民国一流の詩人、書家でもあった。
