Sancheok

A small city on the east coast of the southern part of Gangwon Province, South Korea (Republic of Korea). It has an area of ​​1,185.8 square kilometers and a population of 75,592 (2000). It was promoted to a city in 1986 and merged with Samcheok County in 1995. It is a base for coastal fishing. It has Jeongna Port, which serves as Samcheok's outer port and fishing port. It has a large catch of squid, anchovies, pacific saury, and pollock (Alaska pollock). The abundant limestone in the area is used as raw material for cement factories. It has an express bus terminal to Seoul.

韓国（大韓民国）、江原道(こうげんどう／カンウォンド)南部東海岸の小都市。面積1185.8平方キロメートル、人口7万5592（2000）。1986年、市に昇格。95年、三陟郡と統合。沿岸漁業根拠地である。三陟の外港と漁港の役目を果たす汀羅(ていら)港がある。イカ、カタクチイワシ、サンマ、明太(メンタイ)（スケトウダラ）などの漁獲が多い。付近の豊かな石灰岩はセメント工場の原料になっている。ソウル行きの高速バスターミナルがある。
