Japanese: 市来[町] - いちき

An old town in Hioki County, western Kagoshima Prefecture. Most of the area is a whitebait plateau, with a sandy beach at the northern end of Fukiagehama. The town's center is Minatomachi, a fishing port town on the Kagoshima Main Line. Dairy farming and mandarin orange cultivation are thriving, and shochu (Japanese liquor) is a specialty. Many people commute to Kushikino (now Ichikikushikino City) and Kagoshima City. In October 2005, it merged with Kushikino City to become a city, Ichikikushikino City. ^{31.56 km2} . 7,075 people (2003).

鹿児島県西部，日置郡の旧町。大半はシラス台地で，海岸に吹上浜北端に当たる砂浜が発達。中心は鹿児島本線が通じる漁港町の湊町。酪農，ミカン栽培が盛んで，焼酎(しょうちゅう)を特産。串木野（現・いちき串木野市），鹿児島市への通勤者が多い。2005年10月，串木野市と合併し市制，いちき串木野市となる。31.56km²。7075人（2003）。
