Dik-dik (English spelling)
A general term for mammals of the order Artiodactyla, family Bovidae, subfamily Dik-dikinae. A small African antelope with a tubular nose that is slightly reminiscent of an elephant's trunk. Its four slender, long limbs and an elegant body shape. Its hind legs are longer than its forelimbs, but are usually bent, giving it a unique posture in which its hindquarters are lower than its forelimbs. The horns, which only males have, are short and mostly hidden by the tuft of hair on its head. Its body color is yellowish brown or reddish brown. Its body length is 52-56 cm, its tail length is 3-6 cm, and it weighs 3-6 kg.

偶蹄目ウシ科ディクディク亜科Madoquinaeの哺乳類の総称。わずかにゾウの鼻を思わせるチューブ状にのびた鼻をもつアフリカ産の小型のアンテロープ。四肢は細く長く,体型は優美。後肢は前肢よりも長いが,ふつう曲げられているため,前半身よりも後半身のほうが下がった独特の姿勢をしている。雄のみにある角は短く頭の房毛(ふさげ)にほとんど隠れる。体色は黄褐色ないし赤褐色。体長52~56cm,尾長3~6cm,体重3~6kg。
