Becoming Empress - Rikko
When the Emperor marries, he officially appoints an Empress. This is also called "sakuritsu". It must go through a vote at the Imperial Household Council. Even if a person is not a member of the Imperial family, if they become an Empress through this process, they will acquire the status of a member of the Imperial family.
