One of the ancient Japanese markets. It was located at a key point of land and sea transportation, as described in the Man'yoshu as "Yasonichimata of Umi-zakuro City," in the Nihon Shoki before the accession of Buretsu as "Umi-zakuro City Street," and in the entry for the 16th year of the reign of Suiko (608), it says that the Sui envoy Pei Shiqing and his party, who had traveled up the Yamato River from Naniwa, were welcomed in "Umi-zakuro City Street." Possible locations include the area near the Kanaya settlement in Sakurai City near the intersection of Yokooji and Yamabe-no-michi, and the area between Kamiichi and Kamiichiguchi in Miwa, Kanaya, in the same city, near the intersection of Yokooji and Kamitsumichi, but it is also possible that it may have changed from the former to the latter.
