[What kind of disease is it?]
If heat rash continues for a long time or becomes worse due to delayed treatment, it may develop into a boil filled with pus and measuring more than 1 cm in diameter.
[Symptoms]
It often occurs on the head and face, but can also be seen on the trunk (torso) where heat rash has developed. Not only does it contain pus, it also becomes red and swollen, and is often accompanied by pain. In babies, it can also cause a fever.
[Cause]
There are two types of sweat glands in humans: eccrine glands and apocrine glands. Heat rash occurs when sweat secreted from the eccrine glands accumulates and becomes blocked, but if bacteria infects the glands, it can worsen.
[Treatment]
The first thing to do is to take an antibiotic that matches the causative bacteria. To relieve pain and speed up the recovery, it is best to have the affected area cut open at a hospital and drain the pus.
For heat rash on the head, it is important to disinfect the incision site and use an antibiotic ointment to make sure it gets better within a week. Otherwise, the hair roots near the sweat glands may be damaged, causing hair to stop growing.

[どんな病気か]
　あせもが長引いたり、治療が遅れてひどくなると、直径1cm以上もある膿（うみ）をもったおできになることがあります。これが、あせものよりです。
[症状]
　頭、顔にできることが多いのですが、体幹部（たいかんぶ）（胴体（どうたい））でもあせもができたところにみられます。膿をもつだけではなく、赤み、ぶよぶよとした腫（は）れになり、痛みをともなうこともよくあります。赤ちゃんでは熱を出すこともあります。
[原因]
　人の汗腺（かんせん）には、エックリン腺とアポクリン腺の2種類があります。あせもはエックリン腺が分泌（ぶんぴつ）する汗が貯留（ちょりゅう）して閉塞（へいそく）したものですが、そこに細菌が感染するとあせものよりになります。
[治療]
　原因菌に合った抗生物質を内服することが第一です。痛みをとり、早く治すためには、病院で患部を切開して膿を出してもらうほうがよいでしょう。
　頭部にできたあせものよりは、切開した場所の消毒をおこたらず、抗生物質入りの塗り薬を使い、なるべく1週間以内に軽快させるようにします。そうでないと、汗腺付近の毛根（もうこん）が障害され、毛髪が生えなくなってしまうことがあるのです。
