Li Guang-Tian

Chinese poet and novelist. Born in Zouping County, Shandong Province. While studying at Shandong First Normal School, he was arrested and imprisoned for literary activism. He went on to Beijing University and began writing poetry. He also used the pen names Lidi and Xichen. He started out as an intellectual poet. He later served as professor at Southwestern United University in Kunming, Nankai University in Tianjin, and Tsinghua University in Beijing, and became president of Yunnan University. His works include the collection of poems Spring City Collection (1958), the poetry essay collection Poetic Art (1944), and the prose collections Silver Fox Collection (1936) and Gallery Collection (1936). His novel Gravity (1948) depicts a female teacher in an area occupied by the Japanese military, and its vivid lyricism drew attention.

中国の詩人、小説家。山東省鄒平(すうへい)県の人。山東第一師範在学中、文学運動のために逮捕され入獄。北京(ペキン)大学に進み詩作開始。筆名に黎地(れいち)、曦晨(ぎしん)なども使用。知性派詩人として出発。のち昆明(こんめい)の西南連合大学、天津(てんしん)南開大学、北京の清華大学教授を歴任、雲南大学学長となる。詩集『春城集』（1958）、詩論集『詩的芸術』（1944）、散文集『銀狐集』（1936）、『画廊集』（1936）など。小説『引力』（1948）は、日本軍占領地区の一女教師を描き、その生彩ある叙情が注目された。
