One of the Ryoge government offices. It was where furniture for the Imperial Court was manufactured. It was located west of the Shinmotsujo. In the Heian period, in addition to the Ritsuryo government offices, many "places" were established in the Imperial Palace, and this was one of them. Its first appearance in national history is in the March entry for 848 in the Shoku Nihon Koki, but according to the Saigu-ki, it was established before 840. The staff consisted of betto and azukari, and under them were smiths and other skilled workers. In some cases, the betto was also the Kurodo no to, but this was probably because the Kurando no tori was under the control of the Kurodo no tori and was responsible for manufacturing and repairing miscellaneous equipment under the orders of the Kurodo no tori. Among the implements that were actually created or repaired at this "place" were sacred treasures, curtains, tables, silver pots, silver boxes, walking sticks, and engravings on coins.
