Japanese: millinery

In the mid-19th century, as the textile industry became more active under the influence of the Industrial Revolution, tailoring jobs were divided into corset makers, shirt makers, millineries (making and selling women's hats, selling accessories, etc.), and dressmakers. Although mechanization had progressed in the textile industry, cutting and sewing clothes was still done by hand, and seamstresses who had been trained for 2 to 15 years worked in poor conditions for low wages.
