A former town in Tsukui District, northern Kanagawa Prefecture. It occupies the basin of the midstream Sagami River and its tributary, the Doshi River, and its main settlement is Nakano on a terrace. In addition to dairy farming, the textile industry is thriving. It is home to Shiroyama Dam, completed in 1965, and Lake Tsukui, and is also a tourist destination on the Keihin Expressway. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Sagamiko Town, Tsukui District, and Sagamihara City. Area: 122.04 km2 .
