A village in Kitashitara County, northeastern Aichi Prefecture. Population 1,776 (1995). A mountain village occupying the upper reaches of the Ooniyu River at the southern end of the Kiso Mountains, bordering Nagano Prefecture to the north. Forestry and rice farming are thriving, but in recent years cyclamen and highland vegetables have also been cultivated. The remains of Tsugu Gold Mine, which is said to have provided Takeda Shingen with military funds, the Jomon period Daikondaira ruins and the Kurabune ruins are located here, and Tsugu woodcutter's tools (important folk materials) are on display at the village folk museum. The Chausuyama area, which belongs to Tenryu-Okumikawa Quasi-National Park, has been developing into a tourist destination since the Chausuyama Highland Road was opened in 1978. 愛知県北東部,北設楽(きたしたら)郡の村。人口1776(1995)。木曾山脈南端の大入(おおにゆう)川上流域を占める山村で,北は長野県に接する。林業,米作が盛んであるが,近年はシクラメンや高冷地野菜の栽培も行われる。武田信玄の軍用金をまかなったといわれる津具金山跡や縄文時代の大根平遺跡,鞍船遺跡があり,村立民俗資料館には津具の山樵用具(重要民俗資料)が展示されている。天竜奥三河国定公園に属する茶臼山一帯は1978年茶臼山高原道路が開通して観光開発が進められている。
