A full-length novel by Oguri Mushutaro. It was serialized in Shin Seinen in 1934 (Showa 9). In Kanagawa Prefecture, there is a building called Kokushikan, which has been standing since the Meiji era. After the builder, Dr. Furuyagi, went silent after a controversy over experimental genetics and died mysteriously, he was survived by his son and four mysterious musicians whom the doctor brought from overseas as infants and who he had kept secret for 40 years. The musicians are killed one after another according to the method of murder predicted by the doctor, but these musicians are the children of the four executed people who were obtained in an attempt to cultivate humans in order to determine the validity of the controversy over whether criminal tendencies are hereditary. 小栗虫太郎の長編小説。1934年(昭和9)に《新青年》に連載。神奈川県に明治以来の建造物黒死館がある。建造者の降矢木博士は実験遺伝学の論争以後沈黙し変死を遂げたあと,遺子と,博士が海外から乳児のうちに連れてきた,40年間門外不出の神秘楽人4人がいた。博士の予言した殺人方法に従って,楽人が相次いで殺されるが,これらの楽人は犯罪素質が遺伝するかどうかの論争の当否を定めるため,人間を栽培しようと4人の刑死人の子どもを入手したものであった。
