Burkard Zink

Chronicler of Augsburg, southern Germany. Some say he died in 1475. Born in Memmingen, he pursued a career in commerce, contrary to the expectations of those around him who wanted him to become a priest. However, he was not always successful, and after a turbulent career that included serving as a mercenary, his talent was recognized by the Augsburg city council, who appointed him to serve as an attendant on a foreign envoy and as a clerk. He left behind four volumes of chronicles covering the city's history from 1368 to 1468, the last of which is particularly valuable as a historical document, as it is based on his own direct experiences and the reports of his contemporaries.

南ドイツ，アウクスブルクの年代記作者。1475年没との説もある。メミンゲンに生まれ，聖職者にしようという周辺の期待に反して商業活動を志す。しかし必ずしも成功せず，傭兵軍役に従事するなど波乱に富む経歴の後，アウクスブルク市参事会にその才能を認められて対外使節の随員となったり書記として働いた。1368‐1468年の市史を内容とする4巻の年代記を残したが，とくにその最後の巻は，彼自身の直接的体験や同時代の人々の報告に基づいており，史料的価値が高い。
