Itabashi - Bankyo

A small city in northern Taiwan, adjacent to the southwest of Taipei City. It is the seat of the county government of Taipei County. It is located at the confluence of the Danshui River and the Xindian River. Formerly called Fangqiao, it was renamed Banqiao in 1920. The vast mansion of the Lin Weiyuan family, the most powerful family in northern Taiwan during the Qing Dynasty, is located in the city, and it is known for its old traditional architecture and the Lin Family Garden. Vegetable cultivation and horticulture are thriving, and there are many factories. As the Taipei metropolitan area expands and develops, it has been incorporated into that area and has become significantly urbanized.

台湾北部、台北市の南西に隣接する小都市。台北県の県政府所在地。淡水(たんすい)河と新店渓(しんてんけい)とが合流する地点に位置する。旧称は枋橋(ほうきょう)で、1920年板橋と改称した。清(しん)代における台湾北部最大の豪族林維源(りんいげん)家の広大な邸宅が市中にあり、古風な伝統建築と林家花園があることで知られる。野菜栽培や園芸農業が盛んで、工場も多く、台北大都市圏の拡大発展により、その圏内に組み込まれ都市化が著しい。
