Patriotic Cultural Enlightenment Movement

...A Korean national movement in the early 20th century that opposed Japanese rule and sought to raise national consciousness and restore national sovereignty (independence) through activities such as speech, publishing, education, and the development of national industries. It is also called the Patriotic Cultural Enlightenment Movement. Its main participants were urban intellectuals, students, and national capitalists.
