The second son of Kublai Khan, the founder of the Yuan Dynasty in China. His mother was Empress Chaby of the Onggirate clan. After his eldest brother Dorji died young, he took over the family line and was enfeoffed as King of Yan in 1263 (4th year of the Zhongtong Dynasty), subsequently serving as Secretary of the Central Secretariat and Privy Councillor, and in 1273 (10th year of the Yuan Dynasty) he was made Crown Prince. As a man of Chinese culture, he was highly regarded by Han intellectuals, and he was known for his pro-China stance, such as helping to overthrow the powerful minister Ahmad, but this caused him to fall out of favor with his father. 中国，元の世祖フビライの次子。母はオンギラト氏チャブイ皇后。長兄ドルジが早世したため家系を継いだ彼は，1263年(中統4)燕王に封ぜられ，ついで中書令，判枢密院事に就任，73年(至元10)には皇太子に立てられた。中国的教養の持主として漢人知識人の期待も強く，権臣アフマッド(阿合馬)の打倒にも助力するなど中国寄りの姿勢が目だったが，そのため父と不仲になる。急死を遂げた晩年の事情には謎が多い。【杉山正明】
