... House mice are often infested with the Japanese rat flea Monopsyllus anisus , the European rat flea Nosopsyllus fasciatus , and the blind rat flea Leptopsylla segnis . In open ports, the Cheops rat flea Xenopsylla cheopis , a vector of the plague, is also found. Among the fleas found on field mice, the maned southern flea Stivalius aestivalis is the northernmost species of the Stivalius genus and appears from early summer to summer.
