A marine fish of the Scombridae family in the order Perciformes (illustration). It is also called kiwada. As its name suggests, its second dorsal fin, anal fin, and small fin are bright yellow, and its body is also slightly yellowish. It is widely distributed throughout the world in tropical and subtropical regions. It lives in the waters around Japan from central Honshu southward all year round, and in summer it travels north to the waters around Hokkaido. In addition to its yellow fins and body color, it is also characterized by its significantly elongated second dorsal fin and anal fin. However, small ones up to about 70 cm in length are not very long. It is a relatively large species of tuna, reaching a body length of 2 m and weighing 200 kg.
