Storage tissue -

This refers to the tissues in plants that accumulate various nutritional substances. It is a type of soft tissue, and its cells are generally large and contain a large amount of storage substances. Tubers (potatoes), bulbs (onions), corms (konjac), tuberous roots (sweet potatoes), endosperm (rice), and cotyledons (soybeans) are made up of developed storage tissues, and the nutrients are used during germination. Storage substances are mainly starch, but may also contain sugars, fats, proteins, inulin, mannan, etc.

植物の体内で各種の栄養物質を蓄積する組織をいう。柔組織の一種で、細胞は一般に大きく、貯蔵物質を多量に含有する。塊茎（ジャガイモ）、鱗茎(りんけい)（タマネギ）、球茎（コンニャク）、塊根（サツマイモ）、胚乳(はいにゅう)（イネ）、胚の子葉（ダイズ）などは発達した貯蔵組織からなり、栄養物質は発芽時に使われる。貯蔵物質は主としてデンプンだが、このほか糖類、脂肪、タンパク質、イヌリン、マンナンなどを含むこともある。
