Choga Zanbil (English spelling)

Located in southwestern Iran, 40 km southeast of Susa, the ruins of an Elamite city are centered around the largest ziggurat in Western Asia. Dur-Untash was built by Elamite king Untash-Gal in the mid-13th century BCE. R. Ghilshman carried out full-scale excavations in 1951-62. The ziggurat had a side length of 105 m, with its four corners facing in all four directions. If it can be restored from its current height of 28 m to five stories and a height of 52.6 m, it is said that the ziggurat would have been constructed with 200 Elamite cubits on each side of its base and 100 Elamite cubits in height.

イラン南西部，スーサの南東40kmにあり，西アジア最大のジッグラトが中心に位置するエラムの都市遺跡。前13世紀中葉にエラム王ウンタシュガルUntash‐Galが建設したドゥル･ウンタシュDur‐Untashである。R.ギルシュマンが1951‐62年に本格的な発掘を行った。ジッグラトは1辺105mで四隅が四方に向き，現高の28mから5層，52.6mの高さに復原できると，このジッグラトは底辺の四側を200エラム･キュービット，高さを100エラム･キュービットで建設していたことになるといわれる。
