...A Swedish female children's writer. After working as an elementary school teacher and office worker, she began her career as a writer. Pippi Longstocking, based on a story she told her daughter, was published in 1945 and was a big hit with Swedish children. In addition to the stories about Pippi, the strongest girl in the world, she has many other works that vividly depict children's dreams, such as the series about the boy detective Kalle and The Children of Noisy Village, making her the most popular writer in Scandinavia today and the recipient of many children's literature awards, including the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
