Iodomercurate salt

Japanese: ヨード水銀酸塩 - ヨードすいぎんさんえん（英語表記）iodomercurate salt

A general term for salts that are considered to have the chemical formula [Hg ^II I ₃ ] ^- or [Hg ^II I ₄ ] ^2- . However, this chemical unit does not always exist in the solid phase. There is no corresponding compound for ^{Hg I.} Since the Hg ²⁺ ion forms a stable iodine complex anion in aqueous solution, it is usually synthesized from an aqueous solution of mercury(II) iodide in an alkali iodide solution. (1) Potassium tetraiodomercurate Chemical formula: K ₂ [HgI ₄ ]･2H ₂ O. Pale yellow columnar crystals. Highly soluble in water and ethyl alcohol.
