Riot Act

…When the government succeeds in suppressing a riot, it will punish the rioters severely to prevent it from happening again. Examples include the provisions of the British Riot Act (1715. If 12 or more people gather with the intent of rioting, this act is read out and the people ordered to disperse, and those who do not comply are severely punished). The crime of assembling a violent group in the old Japanese Criminal Code, and the crime of disturbance in the current Criminal Code that succeeds it, are some examples of this.
