A Catholic term. A priest who hears confessions of sins and grants absolution during the sacrament of reconciliation. In such personal confessions, people are free to choose a certain priest so that they can receive effective personal guidance. Therefore, in many cases, the guiding priest becomes the confessor. The secrecy of confessed sins is strictly maintained by canon law. [Tsuchiya Yoshimasa] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
