An essay by British essayist Izaak Walton. First published in 1653. The fifth edition, published in 1676, is the standard version, with additions by the author and a second part written by English poet and writer Charles Cotton (1630-1687). In the form of a dialogue between an angler, a hunter, a falconer, and other characters, fishing techniques are discussed while touching on the ecology of fish and cooking methods. While talking about the joys of fishing, the author's true intention is to nostalgically reminisce about the good old days of England and praise the simple, quiet life surrounded by nature, and it can also be said to be a record of the heart. It is said to be the second most widely read book after the Bible.
