...The Eastern and Western Tombs have circular floor plans in the central, rear and ancillary chambers, with hemispherical ceilings, but the chambers of the Central Tombs, which are currently filled with water, are reported to have octagonal floor plans. The Yongqing Mausoleum (Eastern Tombs) of Emperor Shengzong (reigned 982-1031) is entirely covered with plaster, except for the rear chamber, and is decorated with vividly colored murals. The walls from the pit road to the northern corridor of the central chamber, except for the central chamber, are decorated with extremely realistic life-size portraits of civil and military officials, men and women....
