Born on February 9, 1870. Successful as a baseball player at First High School. In 1894, while attending Imperial University, he wrote "The History of the First High School Baseball Club," and was the first to translate "baseball" as "yakyu." In 1907, he wrote Japan's first baseball instruction manual, "yakyu." In 1904, he became vice principal of Kagoshima Second Middle School. He passed away on March 21, 1932, at the age of 63.
