[1] [Noun] ① A plover that lives on the shore. Hama-chidori. Season: Winter ※Sengohyakuban Utaawase (around 1202-03), No. 947: “Tabine kara kiki yashino banui so chidori nareta amanosode wo toba ya (Minamoto Michimitsu).” ② A type of snail shell of the family Higeomakinawaboridae. It is widely distributed from Boso to the tropical Pacific Ocean, and grows on the shells of oysters such as Itabo gaki. The shell is hat-shaped, about 2.5 centimeters long and about 1 centimeter high. The surface of the shell is covered with a yellowish-brown skin. The apex of the shell sticks out backwards in a spiral shape, and there are three clear radial ridges from the apex. [2] Koto music. Jiuta. Ikuta school ( also performed in the Yamada school). Tegotomono. Kikuoka Kengyo composed this as a jiuta, and Yaezaki Kengyo added a koto replacement . Written by Tachibana Kizan. Published during the Bunsei and Tenpo eras ( 1818-1844 ). The song describes Hikaru Genji's nostalgia for his past glamorous life in Suma.

[1] 〘名〙① 磯辺にいる千鳥。浜千鳥。《季・冬》※千五百番歌合(1202‐03頃)九四七番「たびねからききやしのばぬいそ千鳥なれたるあまの袖をとはばや〈源通光〉」② ヒゲマキナワボラ科の巻き貝の一種。房総より熱帯太平洋に広く分布し、イタボガキなどの殻上に着生する。貝殻は笠形で、長さ約二・五センチメートル、高さ約一センチメートル。殻の表面は黄褐色の殻皮でおおわれている。殻頂は後ろにつき出てらせん状になっており、殻頂より三条のはっきりした放射稜がある。[2] 箏曲。地唄。生田流(山田流でも演奏)。手事物。菊岡検校(けんぎょう)が地唄として作曲、これに八重崎検校が箏の替手(かえで)をつけた。橘岐山作詞。文政・天保年間(一八一八‐四四)に成る。光源氏が須磨で、過去の華やかな生活を追懐する気持をうたう。
