Japanese: チャハマキ(茶葉巻) - チャハマキ（英語表記）Homona magnanima

An insect of the Lepidoptera, Tortricidae family. Wings span 2-3.5cm. Males are generally small, with the front edge of the forewings folded in a pleated manner to cover the front edge, and have a black-brown pattern. Females are light-colored, with no pleats on the forewings and protruding tips. They are found throughout Japan except Hokkaido, and often fly to lights. They emerge three or more times a year and overwinter as larvae. The larvae parasitize more than 30 species of broad-leaved and coniferous trees. Although the Japanese name is Chahamaki, they rarely infest tea plants, and instead cause more damage to citrus trees. The larvae are black-brown caterpillars about 2.5cm long, and feed by binding leaves together.
