Pseudo-urbanization

...As a result of improvements in hygiene and medical conditions, the death rate fell, and both urban and rural populations grew rapidly. The increase in agricultural productivity could not keep up with this, and there was a significant influx of people from rural areas to cities. This urbanization is known worldwide as the second wave of urbanization, and is distinguished between "normal urbanization" caused by the attraction of population to cities and "pseudo-urbanization" caused by the displacement of people from rural areas. The widespread use of automobiles at the same time (the second half of the 20th century) led to a significant expansion of urban residential areas.
