German cockroach (English name: Blattella germanica)

Order Blattella, Family Blattella germanica. A small cockroach known as a common indoor pest worldwide. Body length 11-12mm. Body and forewings are light brown. Two black vertical stripes face each other on the pronotum, but do not meet at the rear end. Forewings are almost as long as the body. Females walk around with an egg case attached to the tip of their abdomen for nearly a month, and when the egg case falls off, 40-50 larvae hatch all at once. They become adults after molting six times, and live for about 100 days. They are more commonly found in restaurants, cafeteria kitchens, buildings, heated apartments, and Shinkansen cars than in ordinary home kitchens, and do not live outdoors. ゴキブリ目チャバネゴキブリ科。世界共通の室内害虫として知られる小型のゴキブリ。体長 11～12mm。体，前翅とも薄茶色。前胸背に2本の黒い縦筋が向き合うように並ぶが，後端で相接することはない。前翅は体長とほとんど同長。雌は卵鞘を腹端に1ヵ月近くつけて歩きまわり，卵鞘が離れ落ちると同時に 40～50匹の幼虫が一斉に孵化する。6回の脱皮で成虫になり，成虫は 100日ほど生きる。一般家庭の台所よりも，むしろ飲食店，食堂の調理場，ビル，暖房完備のアパート，また新幹線の車両内などによくみられ，野外にはすまない。原産地はアジア東部とされる。 (→ゴキブリ類 )
